  • A representative of the Committee on Polar Research of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Human and Social Working Group of the International Science Arctic Committee,

  • A member of the so-called Reflection Group to the Polish Minister of Foreign Affairs,
  • Chair of the Doctoral Degree Committee at the Faculty of Management and Administration, The Jan Kochanowski University in Kielce

  • A former: Senator of the Republic of Poland of the Third Term of Polish Parliament (the Deputy Speaker of the Senate), the Minister of National Education in the years 1995-1996, Ambassador of the Republic of Poland to the Kingdom of Sweden 1997-2001, Ambassador ad personam in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs 2002-2004, Ambassador of the Republic of Poland to the Kingdom of Norway and the Republic of Iceland 2005-2007, a member of the scientific advisory board of the Prime Minister in the years 2002-2003.
